This painting has been done as an artist in residence mini low- stress kind of project on the cardiology ward at the Royal Hobart Hospital. i just kind of went in there sporadically on my days off, when the kids were at school & painted it on site for them!
And it's been really interesting & encouraging for me too! the idea was to brighten the place up & provide a bit of distraction for the patients, but honestly i think the staff got more out of it than the patients did! which is fine by me!
and i got loads of publicity, my photo in the hospital newsletter, & a nicer looking portfolio with "artist in residence" in it!
not my usual style, to just copy a photo like that, but i wanted something bright (the patients really react badly to anything else) & inoffensive.. and who couldn't love those little guys!
The art supplies store, Artery, in Hobart kindly donated the canvas.
